NEPAL VISIT BY THE PRESIDENT OF TAMU SAMAJ UK ON OCTOBER 2016

The President of Tamu Samaj UK (TSUK), Mr. Arjun Kumar Gurung has recently visited to Nepal on October 2016. While in Nepal visit, he went to oversee the reconstruction project and officially opened the newly built school building of Gauri Shankar Middle School in Dhuwakot, Dhading Nepal. The school building was destroyed by the earthquake in 2015 and now it has been completed rebuilt by the financial support of Tamu Samaj UK. Tamu Samaj UK has donated 17 lakh Nepali rupees for this school building reconstruction project.

The President of Tamu Samaj UK, Mr. Arjun Kumar Gurung also attended the historic first ever ‘South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation’ ( SAARC) Tamu Assembly as the only Tamu representative from UK. The SAARC Tamu Assembly was organized by the National Council House of Tamu (Tamu Hyula Chhoj Dhin Gurung Rastriya Parishad) in Dharan Nepal.

During the visit the President of Tamu Samaj UK took part on talk programme “Aadibashi Janjati Aawaj” of Sagarmatha Television in Nepal. On the talk show the President TSUK mainly highlighted the significance of the Gurung (Tamu) culture ,tradition and language in abroad and the work done by the Tamu Samaj UK to uphold and preserve the rich Tamu culture, traditions and language in order to convey it to the future generations.
