Tamu Samaj UK successfully completed the Depawali/Tihar Deusi Bhailo programme with great enthusiasm.
The event occurred on 2nd November 2024 at the Tamu Samaj UK Nepalese Community Centre in Wembley, Barham Park, London. It began with a ceremonial lamp lighting and the worship of Goddess Lakshmi, led by Bindu Ghale, the President of Tamu Samaj UK; Chitra Bahadur Gurung, the founder president; and Bimala Gurung, the Chairperson of the Mother Group.
Bhim Bahadur Gurung, the Senior Vice President and coordinator of the Deusi Bhailo program, formally welcomed all attendees. Vice President Kedar Bahadur Gurung then introduced the Deusi Bhailo tradition, setting a warm and familial tone for the gathering, which included numerous community members.
During the program, Ramila Gurung, Secretary of the mother group, and Maya Gurung, former Chairperson of the Mother Group, entertained everyone with traditional Deusi Bhailo songs.
Key figures at the event included Chitra Bahadur Gurung, the founder president of Tamu Samaj UK; former president Arjun Kumar Gurung; adviser; and Councillor Kamal Gurung, along with advisers Lekh Gurung, Yam Bahadur Gurung, Chandra Bahadur Gurung, Subasing Gurung (BEM), and members of the Executive Committee. The outgoing president of the youth group, Om Kar Gurung, and both male and female group members also attended. Members of the Mother Group took charge of the food and drink arrangements, while Secretary General Suva Ghale conducted the programme.
Treasurer Chandra Kant Gurung and Vice President Meera Gurung managed the collection of donations for Deusi Bhailo. During the event, Treasurer Gurung reported that Tamu Samaj UK successfully gathered significant contributions from its members and well-wishers.
At the conclusion of the programme, President Bindu Ghale expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants and those who donated online, acknowledging their support even if they could not attend in person.
The program started at 5 PM and concluded at 10 PM. Photographs were taken by the outgoing president of the youth group, Om Kar Gurung, while video documentation was handled by the outgoing general secretary and adviser, Dharam Bal Gurung.
Overall, the programme was a remarkable success, filled with entertaining moments and substantial donations for the community.
