Join Our Free Nepali Language Class for Children!

Tamu Samaj UK is pleased to offer a free Nepali language course for children aged 5 to 12 residing in the boroughs of Brent, Ealing, and Harrow. This course, funded by the Community Lottery, is taught by a qualified Nepali teacher and aims to help children learn and appreciate their Nepali heritage in a fun and engaging way.

The classes will run for 40 weeks, starting from 22nd  March 2025, until November 2025. The opening ceremony took place on Saturday, 22nd March  2025, led by the President of Tamu Samaj UK, Mrs. Bindu Kumari Gurung Ghale. During the ceremony, Mrs Gurung distributed notebooks and pens featuring the Community Lottery and Tamu Samaj UK logos to the children.

The event was graced by the presence of the founder president, Mr Chitra Bahadur Gurung, along with Vice President Kedar Bahadur Gurung, General Secretary Suba Ghale, Treasurer Chandra Kanta Gurung, Adviser Biju Gurung, Nepali Class Coordinator Arbindra Shrestha, and teachers Mr Bibek KC and Mrs Kalpana Thapa. Many eager children and their parents also attended the ceremony.

We invite you to give your child the opportunity to learn Nepali in a friendly and interactive environment that includes speaking, reading, writing, and cultural aspects!

The Nepali class has been running for three years, and our students have shown significant improvement in their understanding of the language and culture. Learning one’s native language is crucial, especially for children born and raised outside their home country. If we do not learn or preserve our native language, we risk losing our cultural roots. Therefore, we strongly encourage parents to motivate their children to learn and preserve the Nepali language for both current and future generations.

Tamu Samaj UK sincerely thanks the Community Lottery for funding this important cause. With this support, we can provide our children with more teachers and learning materials, enabling us to accommodate more students. This initiative would not have been possible without their generous funding. Once again, a heartfelt thank you to the Community Lottery!

We also extend our to Chitra Bahadur Gurung, the founder president of Tamu Samaj UK, for coordinating the funds from the Community Lottery. A special thanks to Mr. Arbindra Shrestha, the Nepali Class Coordinator, for his voluntary efforts in managing enrolled students, arranging teachers, and communicating with parents.
